Aylin Schickel – My Art, My Passion!

I am Aylin Schickel, born in 1987 in Aachen, Germany. I grew up, just nearby, in a small town called Jüngersdorf. Today I live and work in Düsseldorf.

From my early days on I was drawn to bring life into empty surfaces. I made my first artistic experiences by creating still life drawings. Starting off with carbon pencils, then advancing to coal. With me getting older the desire to add color got stronger and I progressed to crayon and pastel chalk.

Today acrylic paint is my passion. My work got more abstract, larger and way more colorful.

My paintings are my way to express my emotions and feelings. The flower and especially the blossom is my most beloved subject and triggers my fascination each and every time.

There exists an almost infinite number of flowers in our world – none like the other. Each and every flower, with its own characteristics and environment has a unique impact on me. One rises alone out of the dark ground, others bloom in large numbers creating a gigantic ocean of colors. We humans should feel blessed to be able to perceive all this beauty.

Sun, water, air, nutrients and of course a place to life and bloom: A human and a flower have a lot in common. The flower shows the transience of life in a short period and thereby reflects the human lifecycle. One day in beautiful bloom, the other day the head may already bow and the day after life may have passed away.

Reserved or open – petite or powerful – weak or full of energy – tiny or huge: With a close look, one will notice a lot of human traits.

But who knows how long they still will exist?
